Hi, my name is Dave Mead, and for the past thirty years I have lived and worked in the beautiful valley of Farndale, hidden deep within the North York Moors National Park.
For most of that time I have pursued an interest in photography, inspired by the landscape that surrounds my home. Eventually, I began to expand my horizons to include other, similarly wonderful, areas of the National Park before a set of circumstances combined to create an opportunity for me to travel to the farthest reaches of the Earth.
In 2013, I went on the ‘trip of a lifetime’ to Antarctica and in subsequent years I have been to Canada, the USA, Namibia, Norway, Spain and all four corners of the British Isles purely to make photographs. During this period, I have spent time with several of the world’s leading landscape photographers, particularly Joe Cornish and David Ward. They have both become great friends and have had a huge influence on my work.
During 2020/21 when so many people lost their loved ones, I came to realise that making images was essential for me to maintain my mental health. And with that in mind, I continue to get out and about with my camera, either locally or further afield, as often as I possibly can.
When I’m not involved in photography, I am either tending to my flock of sheep, helping my wife with her three ponies or listening to music.
The oldest pictures on this website date from 2008, the most recent are from 2025, I hope you find joy, comfort, inspiration and love within these galleries.
Generally, I don’t give specific locations but am happy to answer questions on that or any other aspect of my work, by email. Just click on the link on the Home page.
